A four-film seriesOctober — November 2026
The Roxy Cinema New York

Our fall 2026 series brings together four deeply musical films in which music is not only part of the soundtrack, but a narrative force shaping memory, performance, and artistic mythology.

Each screening opens with a specially conceived live acoustic performance that expands on the musical world of the film.

For the price of a movie ticket, audiences will find musical traditions more often found in concert halls uptown, alongside the cinematic worlds they have inspired.

Tous les Matins du Monde

An ambitious young musician’s life becomes entwined with that of his reclusive master in Alain Corneau’s haunting portrait of composer Marin Marais and his teacher, Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe. With a landmark score by Jordi Savall, whose viola da gamba recordings inspired Pascal Quignard’s original story.

Preceded by a live performance and presentation of Baroque-era instruments by gambist Marc Armitano Domingo.
